ABOUT
Founded by professional singer, Anna-Lisa Hackett, and recording artist Charles Watson, Desert Music Studios offers a range of services including music lessons, performing opportunities and professional recording. With over 30 years of teaching experience, we are a network of professional musicians all over the valley offering one-on-one instruction in-person or online. Instruments taught include voice, piano, flute, guitar, drums and bass. We are your neighborhood music instructors!
Anna-Lisa Hackett
Ms Hackett has performed the roles of Hannah Glawari (The Merry Widow), Fiordiligi (Cosi fan tutte) and Donna Anna (Don Giovanni) with Opera NEO in San Diego. She has also sung the roles of Nedda (I Pagliacci) with Sin City Opera in Las Vegas, The Queen of the night (Die Zauberflöte) and Frasquita (Carmen) with the Phoenix Opera, Hannah Glawari (The Merry Widow) and Madame Pompadour (Madame Pompadour) with the Ohio Light Opera. She began this season singing Violetta at the Vienna Opera Academy followed by a new production at Arizona Opera (Hagen, Shining Brow). She has also sung with the FAVA music festival in Austria and FIO music festival in Brazil. Ms. Hackett has won first prize in the Southwest Vocal Competition and Schubert Club Competition and was a finalist in the Loren L. Zachary Society National Vocal Competition. She has also been a featured soloist with the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, the Phoenix Symphony, the Marina del Ray Symphony and ProMusica of Arizona. Ms Hackett is equally comfortable with musical theater and has played leading roles in many productions including Marian Paroo (The Music Man) Laurie (Oklahoma), Margy (State Fair), Rapunzel (Into the Woods) and Mrs. Gardiner in the premier production of Pride and Prejudice. Along with teaching and running Desert Music Studio, Anna-Lisa is a vocal instructor at Scottsdale Community College.
Charles Watson
Charles Ernest Watson Jr is a North American composer and guitarist. A child prodigy from a family line of musicians and artists he began composing and performing on the guitar at age 9. Watson is also a pianist and known for his transcriptions for guitar of piano masterpieces from the Romantic and 20th century musical eras and for his contemporary scores and symphonic productions for modern dance troupes, traditional ballet and theater.

Charles is a seasoned public performer, accomplished in the recording studio has put out numerous CD albums and is adept at sight-reading and writing scores on the fly. He performs at many community public and private events, music festivals, restaurants and corporate events. He leads two Arizona based stage bands and recorded his 2008 album with Universal Platinum Plus Records Nashville.
